Local pharmacists are asking parents to be vigilant following a severe outbreak of the winter vomiting bug, Norovirus, which has swept through Bramble Primary School and the adjacent Stoneleigh Community Centre this week.
"We are seeing a huge influx of parents coming into the pharmacy looking for anti-sickness medication," says Sarah Jenkins, Lead Pharmacist at Stoneleigh High Street Pharmacy. "There is no cure for Norovirus; it just needs to run its course. The most important thing you can do is keep your child off school, and away from elderly relatives, for a full 48 hours after their last episode of vomiting or diarrhoea. Please do not bring infected children into the pharmacy or the GP surgery, as this spreads the virus to vulnerable patients. Call us or 111 if you are concerned about dehydration."
